An online store for handmade things from Lithuania

OVO Things is a Lithuanian maker of handcrafted goods — beeswax candles, linen, porcelain, leather. We built a bilingual store with a five-category catalogue, seasonal edits and editorial pages, so the story of the workshops supports the sale instead of interrupting it.

01Challenge

OVO Things is a Lithuanian brand of handcrafted goods. Since 2015 the team has been making candles from 100% beeswax with multicoloured wicks; everything else — wood, porcelain, bronze, brass, linen, leather — is produced in limited runs across several small workshops in Lithuania.

The range is deliberately varied: candles in several formats, holders in oak, porcelain and aluminium, tablecloths and napkins, leather boxes and baskets, prints, posters, cards, vintage pieces and gift packaging. All of it had to fit into navigation that never turns into an endless list and still feels like a shop window rather than a warehouse.

The store ships across the European Union. That set the requirements: two language versions, English and Lithuanian, clear delivery terms with a free-shipping threshold from €100, a separate route for wholesale buyers, and a page for EU project reporting.

Structure

The catalogue sits on five top-level categories — candles, candle holders, prints, leather things, linen things — mirrored in a mega menu where holders break down further by material: porcelain, wood, metal. A separate FEATURED branch gathers new arrivals, bestsellers and seasonal edits such as LIVING, LIGHTLY, so merchandising happens without rebuilding the catalogue.

Homepage

The hero is a seasonal banner, "For Summer Gatherings", with a single route into the shop. Below it: a short statement about handwork, a carousel of beeswax candles with prices, the "Linen for Your Table" promo block, a category tile row and the founder's manifesto. The sequence moves from mood to purchase and doesn't greet visitors with a wall of product cards.

Build

  • Shopify store on a hand-written theme: type, grids and cards tuned to the brand's photography.
  • Drawer cart with an estimated total, no separate page load.
  • Site-wide bar with the free EU shipping terms from €100.
  • EN/LT switcher in the header and mobile menu, with localised copy, metadata and product options.
  • Newsletter sign-up offering 10% off the first order.
  • Craft, Stories and About sections, plus Wholesale, Contacts, EU Projects and the full set of policies.

SEO and speed

A clean heading hierarchy, separate titles and descriptions per language, product structured data, image compression and lazy loading — a photo-heavy catalogue that stays smooth on mobile.
